CS 373 Fall 2022: Fernando Mercado - Week 11

What did you do this past week?

This week I mostly worked on getting progress made on Queue, which felt kind of slow but we have done well for the week. I helped my friend move out of their apartment which was very chaotic but still fun.

What's in your way?

This last week I've felt very unmotivated and I'm not quite sure why. I think it's just the pressure of the nearing end of the semester.

What will you do next week?

The coming week is a daunting one. I have a deadline for both of my major projects on the same day and a large amount of work to do for both. I want to also take time to just focus on my mental health but I worry I might not have much time to do that this week.

What did you think of Paper #11. More on getters and setters?

Having a Builder class was an interesting concept to me and it made a lot of sense, especially considering what last week's article said.

What was your experience of the SQL, joins, and subqueries?

I didn't really have any SQL experience going into this class so it was interesting to see how English-like the language is.

What made you happy this week?

I went to Houston for my roommates birthday and we got to see some of our old friends. Was very enjoyable, and also I loved the extra hour of sleep.

What's your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

Manage your time well and set limits for yourself, whether those be mental, using your phone's app timers, or another method. I know I spend an absurd amount of time wasting away on my phone and I feel that we could all get better at using our time wisely.
